Imperfect Prayers

Image
Dinner time prayers are often imperfect. We don't look like any beautiful picture of a family you might see on Instagram. We are a blended family with a full schedule and we are not together every night so rhythm is out the window. Even if we are regularly offbeat, we still pray. Messy prayer time is still prayer time memories that my kids will have.  Doubts creep into my mind sometimes that it isn't worth it or it won't matter later. It does. We are going to pray anyway.  The kids sneak food when we close our eyes.  Bickering between siblings. Tired from practice or a game. They don't want to hold hands. We get creative. Fist bump. Elbows. Whatever it takes.  We are still going to teach that God is our provider and we can pause and take a moment to give Him praise.  On the way to school. On the way home from school. Before a vacation or long drive. Pausing a moment and saying a simple prayer aloud before we interact has been helping me reconnect to my Source. I put my

On The Sideline

A couple months ago, I said out loud to another mom that I don't think I'm cut out to be a "soccer mom". There are many days when I don't feel like I have what it takes to do what God has in front of me.  When I am weak then He is strong.  There have been many teachable moments from the sideline.  Over and over I'm reminded how much we need the grace and forgiveness given to us through Jesus.  Youth travel sports are intense. I never played sports on an organized team so its hard for me to understand like some parents might. Scheduling is one thing. The part I'm struggling with is the level of aggressiveness and cruel ways some parents and coaches speak. Thankfully none of the coaches on our teams have said anything I'd be embarrassed of. However, my kids have experienced the comments from opposing team coaching staff and parents. The main positive is that it provides us with teachable moments.  My job is not to fall to those levels but instead to be

Reconciliation

R econciliation. That's a loaded word. It is probably safe to say that we all have experienced the need to reconcile with someone. A couple weeks ago there was a sermon preached at the church I'm a part of that was titled "Reconciliation" and it's been on my mind and heart since. I've included a link to Spotify where I happen to subscribe and have listened to it again. You can watch it too  if you prefer.  My prayer is that it will help answer questions that may be confusing about the gospel and about God.    Open to listen to the sermon on Spotify Lord, thank you for the ability to share a sermon but its not that simple to just post and leave. I'm asking that the Holy Spirit do what I know it can to bring it to whomever needs it. If someone hears and has questions, lead them to a wise person of integrity to help them on the next step. Bring people into their lives who will lead them to Truth. If I'm involved in any follow up questions, let me rely on

I'm Still Praying

God,  Thank you for the opportunity to pour out my heart to You and create a space where others can join in prayer too. I'm not the best at this. There are certainly other resources that are more organized and have it together. I'm just a mom who is doing her best one day at a time, one prayer at a time. Thank you for continuing to teach me about who You are and therefore who I am in through You. Your love is beyond me but I'm still listening. I'm still praying. Help anyone who has questions about  You to keep asking. To not be afraid. To not hold back. To just share with You. Guide us as we interact with one another on this Earth. To treat others as we would want to be treated. Guide us as we practice both forgiveness and healthy boundaries. It can be tricky. I want to focus on Your truth. Thank you for Your Word. In Jesus Name, amen.  Feel free to comment your prayers on this page if you would like and we can pray for each other.
